We wake up late around 06.00. Our
breakfast was Koa Tom Pla Too ( Mackerel on rice soup). This is the first time in
my life that I have this special kind of soup. It is delicious. The soup is
cook well with minded sweet and salty. I added chilly as usual since I like
spicy.

Fisher
school club
09.00 We drove south of Ampawa to BaanPakmap. It is around 20 minutes ride. This is in the same province. This is a
place which called Rong Rean Chaopramong or Fisher School club. People in this
area are full time fisherman. They set up cooperative to buy their product and
make some product to see and now want to set up eco-tourism route for tourist
to visit their home.

After cool welcome drink, we got brief
information about this trip. We met Khun Nok , a manager of fisher cooperative.
She told us about this area what people do for making a living.

Boat
Ride
Taking a boat ride visit estuary area
where small canal meet the ocean. Event the weather is hot but the view of what
we see along the mangrove was interested. All kinds of marine life, and
fishermen work along the side of the river. At estuary, there are mound and
hummock where the fishermen place the trap to krill.

Krill
or Krabee plate
Krill looks similar to shrimp in small
version. Krill eats plankton. They live along the coast. The fisherman will use
the small net the catch them. They use big basket to collect them 2 times a
day. The fisherman can sell fresh krill by kilogram or fermented and later sell
it as Krabee plate. Krabee plate is a must use in many dipping and spicy soup.
The good quality of Kabee plate cost around 200 Thai Baht/Kilogram. It was a
pity that we did not have a chance to buy Krabee plate back home.
Note Krabee plate has anti-oxidant so it
is useful for health.

to see Mangrove
The boat return to sea water canal, we
rode pass local house along with mangrove, and coppice tree. Those trees are
home of small being such as mud-skippers, crab, razor clam and lamp shell.

We stop at aunt of Khun Nok’s house. They
has very simple house like other house. No special setting for tourist. All of
us set at open area. It is similar to regular house but no cover so we all got
the wind flow and view of mangrove forest. This house and around area well come
all kind of animals such as crab and mudskippers as well as dogs.

They set small stove using charcoal as
fuel for barbeque special kind of Thai snack called Kanom Jak. Jak is a tree
with common name as Nipa Plam or Nypa. Kanom Jak normally sell as souvenir in
Baanlamong area , near pattaya. Most of them lack of main ingredient or Jak
(Nypa). The ingredient is including
flour made of sticky rice, Nypa, coconut and coconut sugar. Mixed ingredient
well and wrap with Nypa leave and grill on the oven for about 15 minute. The
dessert is good and light sweet. Everyone enjoy to taste this snack.

Lunch
Yummy lunch began with deep fried
mackerel , Pla lin ma tod (Deep fried true sole fish), stir fried small squid ,
Keang som ( papaya soup) , Keang Jood
Moo sap ( minced pork soup) , vegetable with krill plate dipping and etc. This
is WOW . I can’t say enough for how good
it was. I would like to bring my family to taste deep fried true sole fish and krill
plate dipping.
The trip ended after chill out. There are
people who help with cooking dessert , throw the mangrove seed on the mud and
so on. We left this place around 2.00
p.m. to Nakhonprathom before come back to Bangkok.

Summary
This trip is an idea for those who
interested to observe other peoples life. It is slow tour with no rush in and
out on the bus. To stay in one place , helping them doing their job, talk to
them about life and tasting all good yummy stuff. So what do you think about this.
