Taking a boat ride visit estuary area where small canal meet the ocean. Event the weather is hot but the view of what we see along the mangrove was interested. All kinds of marine life, and fishermen work along the side of the river. At estuary, there are mound and hummock where the fishermen place the trap to krill.

Check out the trip to visit fisherman village.

How to get down ? Is it too sleepy ?

Krill or Krabee plate

Krill looks similar to shrimp in small version. Krill eats plankton. They live along the coast. The fisherman will use the small net the catch them. They use big basket to collect them 2 times a day. The fisherman can sell fresh krill by kilogram or fermented and later sell it as Krabee plate. Krabee plate is a must use in many dipping and spicy soup. The good quality of Kabee plate cost around 200 Thai Baht/Kilogram. It was a pity that we did not have a chance to buy Krabee plate back home.

Note Krabee plate has anti-oxidant so it is useful for health.

Thailand Food Tour - Ampawa & Samut son kam Trip

Explore Homemade coconut sugar factory, home stay & Thai house  and Fisherman Village

Last weekend, I was so lucky again to join trip with Silpakorn University. This time we visited Ampawa and Samoot Songkam.

Where is Ampawa?

Amphawa floating market is very famous destination for Thai tourist. It is 2 hour away southwest of Bangkok. Every weekend evening, Bangkok people and around area travel to Amphawa for finding a good food, shopping and take pictures. This is a place to chill out.

Damnern Saduak floating

The world famous sightseeing , DamnernSaduak floating market is also close by Amapawa. This is a main attraction for those who visit Bangkok and want to spend half day away from busy life. The trip normally add coconut farm factory. Sometime, it is add the train market or Talad Rom Hup which is in Samotsongkam as complimentary.

Why my partner and I join this trip?

In tour business, this area is very well known for tour agency. Tour agency bring people to visit Damnern Saduak and Ampawa regularly. However, this trip is totally different. We will go to visit all non-commercial places. Visit real people house. We do not see the demonstration, in fact we help them making living for real. We stop for 2-5 hours long instead of hop in and hop out. This is a slow travel which everyone got to learn, talk and see real life.

What’s to explore?

Load of good food to taste is very importance. We try some unique snack which is hard to find and not easy to cook. We got to take some action to make the food finish. We got to think how to help local people

One is the most gigantic milestone of Tongpaphum , the Crab Coffee Shop

Next, the professor Pradit brought up a big surprised. All visitors need to taste two type of snack and provide review. It represent Kanchanburi province by using local product such as sesame, coffee, Tong Muan and mulberry leave. The taste of the snack is superb. But the useful comment is provided for improvement.

Mea Klong Dam

Baan Nong Kao

Museum in the temple
Then, we continue to Bang Nong Kao, our last sightseeing. The village has special culture which is very different from other village around. They has local museum in the temple. The museum and P’Tuk gave us overview about culture of people in Baan Nong Kao . How do they dress ? Each 12 years round they are special event and activities . What should they do during wedding and many more. It is great to learn about their culture and believe.

We then explore the village by using E-Tan (covetable truck). First stop is   Baan Peang pa, บ้านเพลงผ้า. This is one of three place which can design the Pa Kaw Ma. Local style of fabric which use hand weave. The process of produce the fabric were minimal many process. In the old day, the dry the color and grow the cotton. Now, they bough the raw material and only process the weave and set design. I have got to helping set color the whole fabric. First, it looked easy to do, once I made it is so difficult. There are a lot of chance to make mistake.

Later we continue to E-tan to visit ricefield. Evening time, we got to chill out with light win along the street which easy to see people work on their field, children swim on canal , some local people ride motorcycle and buffalo swim. It is nice pictures at the end.

The last evening, we have dinner with small task to evaluate the trip. Everyone impress with the trip. However, we do not to suggest the way to improve the trip. I think this trip was great with fantastic companion. I can not wait to see real tourist to travel with this route and helping local to get their products on sale. If this trip is happened, I am sure it will help to grow sustainable tourism.
